More About Us…

Chiropractor:  Chiropractic can provide you and your family with the health, wellness and care you need to help with numerous conditions. For the best chiropractic services in the city, there is only one choice for you – the tried-and-tested hands at The Spine and Wellness Center! At SWC, the focus is on general chiropractic care for families and individuals from all walks of life – from children and teens to adults and seniors; from pregnant women to athletes and to business professionals on the go.

The staff – spearheaded by Dr. Patrick Borja – has delivered a stellar standard of chiropractic care since 1991 and specializes in family care, sports and everyday injuries and preventative care for a host of illness and conditions.

Here are just a few of our more popular chiropractic services that we offer:

Pregnancy Chiropractic:  Dr. Borja offers chiropractic care for expecting mothers.  During the various stages of pregnancy and labor, your spine is subjected to a large amount of stress.  This stress can cause back pain, headaches, migraines, nausea, insomnia and other symptoms that can wreak havoc on your life.  At SWC we utilize the Webster technique in order to provide for a healthier and more comfortable pregnancy and delivery.

Pediatric Chiropractic: Infants, in particular, are susceptible to a wide range of possible ailments related to slow or traumatic birth and C-sections.  Children particularly need pediatric chiropractic care as they age because a lot of the problems we experience as adults actually come from our childhood – either because we fell (think about how many times a day a baby falls when they are learning to walk, sometimes 10-20 times per day), broke something, or simply had poor posture (which is extremely common today). Our chiropractic services for infants include adjustments for unhealthy and misaligned spines, full assessments and nutritional guidance & support for full body health.  The health of a child immediately after birth and up to a month after birth is crucial. Our neonatal care examinations assess the health of your child and look for any potential disturbances or misalignments that need to be addressed.

Headache Relief:  Do you suffer from headaches? If so, you are not alone. Most Americans have suffered from occasional or frequent headaches at some point in their life.  Whether you suffer from tension headaches, migraine headaches, cluster headaches, stress headaches, anxiety related headaches, neck pain related headaches, or cervico-genetic headaches—we can help you find relief!  A common cause of headaches is from spinal bones in the neck that aren’t supporting the head properly. You might not notice your reduced ability to turn your head, but these subluxations affect nerves, muscles and even the blood supply to your head. Subluxations can often be the result of stress and bad posture which is why so many Americans who work at a desk all day report suffering from them. A subluxation is when one or more of the spinal bones is misaligned into an abnormal position causing irritation to the nerve structure and interference with the flow of nerve energy throughout the body.

Fibromyalgia:  We offer a holistic approach to the syndrome of symptoms that make up fibromyalgia. We can help you with generalized fibromyalgia pain, sensitivity to pressure and touch, fibromyalgia related insomnia, joint stiffness and fibromyalgia related fatigue. We can also help with bladder and bowel dysfunctions, numbness & tingling and general cognitive problems related to fibromyalgia.

Allergy Relief:  Allergies affect millions of people in the United States and can interfere with your quality of life. An allergy is an overreaction of the immune system as it thinks it is being invaded by a parasite rather than a food or harmless allergen in the environment and therefore it rallies its defenses to fight off the enemy.  Chiropractic care can help with allergies by reducing stress to the nervous system, enhancing immune system functions by removing subluxations and supporting your overall general health. A subluxation is when one or more of the spinal bones is misaligned into an abnormal position. When that bone is out of place it causes irritation to the nerve structure and interferes with the flow of nerve energy throughout the body.  It is the nerve interference associated with the subluxation that causes the nerve system to be hyper excitable, causing increased sensitivity to allergens (things in the environment or foods) that start the allergic reaction. Once the chiropractor removes any nerve interferences and your body’s immune system is running at an optimal level again, you are able to deal with the invading allergens without as severe of an allergic reaction (the sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes).  Many patients who have come to the office for chiropractic care due to common back and neck pains have also noticed a difference in the severity of their allergies, both every day and seasonal. This often comes as a surprise to them, but is a very welcomed added benefit of their treatment.
