For many people, back pain can have long lasting effects and can flare up at any given time. This can disrupt various activities such as spending time with your spouse, children, or friends, and it can put a real hamper on your life! Some people turn to surgery to relieve this pain. However, other non-invasive options are widely available.
Nonsurgical spinal decompression is a type of motorized traction that can help to relieve back pain and tension. One such method is referred to as the “Cox Method” which works by gently stretching the spine and changes the force and position of the spine. The change takes pressure off of your spinal discs by creating a negative pressure in the disc. This results in helping to promote the movement of oxygen, water, and fluids into the discs so they may heal properly.
What should you expect when you go in for spinal decompression therapy? The process is done fully clothed as the doctor fits you with a harness which wraps around your pelvis and another around the buttocks. You may lie either face down or face up depending on the needs of your spine, and your doctor will customize the treatment based on your specific spinal needs.
At the Spine and Wellness Center, we’d be glad to talk over the options of nonsurgical spinal decompression so you feel confident with the service you receive. We have decompression tables at our office which we use regularly, and Dr. Borja would love to look over options with you!
